Trust & safety

A safer place to buy and sell poultry

Birdie Buy is built on direct communication, honest reviews, and clear expectations. Here is how we help keep the marketplace trustworthy.

What we do to help keep you safe

Safety is a shared effort. These tools and practices are designed to help buyers and sellers trade with confidence.

Two-way reviews

Buyers and sellers can leave honest star ratings and written feedback after a transaction. Reviews build accountability and help everyone make informed decisions.

Verified buyer badges

Buyers with multiple completed transactions earn a verified badge, so sellers can recognize experienced community members.

Report listings & reviews

Every listing and review has a report button. Our moderation team reviews reports and removes content that violates community guidelines.

Direct messaging

Ask questions, confirm health paperwork, and arrange pickup or shipping details before you pay. Keep communication on the platform for everyone's protection.

Transparent listings

Sellers provide breed, age, location, quantity, and shipping or pickup options. Clear listings mean fewer surprises.

Private information

We use Row Level Security to protect your data. Full addresses and payment details are never shown publicly and should only be shared directly with trusted trading partners.

Community expectations

Play fair. Be kind. Know the rules.

Everyone on Birdie Buy agrees to follow basic standards of honesty and respect. Sellers must represent their birds accurately. Buyers must follow through on payment and pickup arrangements. When something goes wrong, we encourage members to communicate first and report when needed.

Our community guidelines

  • Be honest about breed, age, health, and availability.
  • Communicate clearly and respond to messages promptly.
  • Use legal, humane shipping and pickup practices.
  • Comply with state and federal requirements, including NPIP where applicable.
  • Do not harass, spam, or mislead other members.
  • Report suspicious behavior or content that violates these expectations.

Shipping, NPIP, and legal compliance

Sellers are responsible for following all applicable laws when shipping or transferring live poultry. This includes using approved live-animal carriers, providing required health certificates, and meeting NPIP or state-specific requirements. If you are unsure what applies to your shipment, check with your state veterinarian or the USDA before listing.
